How does it work?
Heat from the outside air
A heat pump works exactly the other way around from what you'd expect: the outside air gives up its heat to the pump's cooling element, and that heat is released indoors via indoor units.
Transferring instead of burning
The big advantage: a heat pump generates heat by transferring it, not by burning fossil fuels. It only uses a minimum of electricity to run the pump.
Cooling with the same unit
Thanks to a reversing valve, the heat pump can also discharge heat: you cool your home in summer with the same system that heats it in winter.
